Bauxite is a naturally occurring, heterogeneous material composed primarily of one or more aluminum hydroxide minerals, plus various mixtures of silica, iron oxide, titania, aluminosilicate, and other impurities in minor or trace amounts.
Bauxite quality is primarily determined by its alumina content, silica content, and the presence of impurities like hematite. High-grade bauxite typically has a higher alumina content (over 41%) and lower silica content (under 5%). Lower-grade bauxites have a lower alumina content or higher silica content.
Application of Bauxite :
Bauxite is primarily used as the main ore for aluminum production. It's also used in various other industries, including refractories, abrasives, cement, and chemicals. Specifically, bauxite is a key component in the production of alumina, which is then used to manufacture aluminum.
